Diamond-ground concrete
We grind the whole slab to open the surface. No acid etching. Cracks and chips are filled, then ground flush.
Garage floor coatings
$7 per square foot, all-inclusive. Most jobs done in one day.
Bluestone Surfaces installs polyurea and polyaspartic flake floors in garages, basements, patios and shops across Salt Lake and Utah County for $7 per square foot, all-inclusive. We diamond grind, moisture test and repair cracks first, most garages are done in one day, and every floor carries the Forever Floor warranty against peeling.
The system
We grind the whole slab to open the surface. No acid etching. Cracks and chips are filled, then ground flush.
A flexible base that soaks into the open concrete and bonds to it. Flexibility matters here: Utah slabs move with freeze and thaw.
Your blend, broadcast by hand into the wet base until the floor is fully covered. It hides dust and adds grip.
A clear, UV-stable topcoat that will not amber in the sun and wipes clean of salt, oil and snowmelt.
All-inclusive
All of it. Every job, every time. See example garage prices.
Searching for epoxy?
Plenty of people call every coated garage an epoxy floor. Here is how the system we install compares to the epoxy kits and epoxy paint most people have seen.
| What matters | Our polyurea and polyaspartic system | Typical epoxy |
|---|---|---|
| Sunlight | Polyaspartic topcoat is UV stable, so it stays clear | Most epoxies amber or chalk with UV exposure |
| Flexibility | Flexible polyurea base moves with the slab through freeze and thaw | Rigid once cured, more prone to cracking and lifting |
| Install time | Fast-curing layers: most garages are done in one day | Usually multiple days between coats |
| Hot tires | Handles hot tires when the slab is ground and the system is built right | Thin DIY epoxy and epoxy paint are known for hot tire pickup |
| Prep | Diamond grinding, moisture testing and crack repair are included | Kits often rely on acid etching, which leaves a weak bond |
Product performance varies by manufacturer and install. We match the product to your concrete and share the data sheet for the system we use on your floor.
Our process
We test every slab first. If moisture is high, a barrier goes down at no extra charge.
The whole floor is ground to a clean, open profile.
Cracks and chips are filled, then ground flush with the slab.
The polyurea base goes down, matched to your concrete.
Your blend is broadcast wall to wall into the wet base.
The UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat locks it all in. We walk the floor with you.
Flake blends
We bring physical samples to your quote so you can see them on your own slab, in your own light.
Where we install it
The flagship. Every storm brings magnesium chloride and road salt in on your tires to sit on bare concrete until spring, which is why so many Utah garages are pitted and dusty by year ten. A coated floor shrugs it off: salt, oil and brake fluid wipe up.
Storage rooms, home gyms and workshop corners turn into finished square footage. Interior slabs come with one extra responsibility, moisture, so we test every one and tell you if it is not ready.
The UV-stable topcoat is why this system can live outside at altitude. A sealed surface keeps freeze-thaw water out, and we add an anti-slip additive to every exterior topcoat at no charge.
Floor jacks, welders, toolboxes on casters. Shops see the heaviest use and benefit the most. Measure the square footage and multiply by seven: that is your number.
Every floor we install is backed by our Forever Floor warranty: if our work ever peels or delaminates, we fix it free, for as long as you own the home and we are in business. The full written terms come with your quote.
Questions
$7 per square foot, everything included: testing, grinding, crack repair, base, flake, topcoat, materials, labor and cleanup. A typical 2-car garage of 400 to 550 sq ft is $2,800 to $3,850. See all coating prices.
Most garages are. The polyurea and polyaspartic layers cure fast enough to finish in a single visit. If testing shows your slab needs a moisture barrier or extra repair, we tell you at the quote and give you the exact schedule.
That is the main reason Utah homeowners coat. Salt and magnesium chloride slowly eat bare concrete. The sealed topcoat keeps them on the surface, where they wipe or rinse off.
Hot tire pickup is the classic failure of thin DIY epoxy and epoxy paint. Our system is bonded to diamond-ground concrete and built with a polyurea base and polyaspartic topcoat, which hold up to hot tires.
We moisture test every slab before we coat. If the reading calls for it, a moisture barrier and primer go down first at no extra charge. New slabs need at least 28 days to cure before coating.
Yes. Crack and chip repair is included in the price: we fill them, then grind them flush. The Forever Floor warranty covers the coating, not new cracks that form in the slab itself.
No. Plenty of people search for an epoxy garage floor, and we understand why. We install a polyurea base with a polyaspartic topcoat because it stays clear in the sun, flexes through freeze and thaw, and finishes in one visit instead of several days.
